Sam started songwriting at age 14 when he felt an extreme inspiration to start making music, and songs have been flowing from the soul ever since. Sam's songs aren't written with any certain audience in mind...pure music is what it is when you get rid of all the other aspects.

The songs written and performed by SAM SIMS represent an eclectic mix. Sam writes and performs songs on the guitar, ukulele, harmonica, dobro, banjo, & mandolin. Sam is influenced by a variety of musical styles including folk, alternative, rock, reggae, blues, Hawaiian, slack key, bluegrass, ragtime, and classical.

Sam's musical inspiration comes from spiritual connections and his songs are heavily influenced by cultural ideology. Being open to new ideas is critical as open-mindedness plays a key role in the creation of global unification. Love will make the world a better place and that's the overall goal.

One must experience life to have something to write a song about. Natural aspects play a huge factor in Sam's songwriting...to be embraced in nature is a truly beautiful thing.

Some of Sam's greatest musical influences are Robert Johnson, Pearl Jam, Robert Bradley, Tracy Chapman, IZ, Willie Nelson, Nick Drake, Ben Harper, Bob Dylan, Bob Marley, Eric Clapton, Albert King, Jimi Hendrix, and Jack Johnson. According to Sam, "Music quality varies depending on mood, there are unlimited possibilities, and there is always some new aspect to be learned."
